Green Idly



  1. Rice
  2. Urad Daal ( Meena Pappu )
  3. Green Chutney
  4. Onions
  5. Green Chillies
  6. Cucumber
  7. Tomatoes
  8. Carrot
  9. Coriander
  10. Spring Onions
  11. salt

Step 1.

Wash 1 cup of rice and 1/2 cup of daal and soak it for 4 hours.After 4 hours blend into fine paste and ferment it for over night or it cold regions it may take 36 hours to ferment.We can even use the leftover idly batter also for this green idly.

Step 2.


Take a bowl and add some chopped onion,green chillies,tomatoes & coriander, & Green chutney according to the idly batter.

Step 3.


Now grate carrot and chop spring onions and keep it aside.Add some of the carrot & spring onion to batter a long with green chutney, and add some chopped cucumber.

Step 4.


Now mix some idly batter to this ready mixture in the bowl and mix it well with some salt and it looks like above. Now batter is ready.

Step 5.


Now  spread oil on the idly plates and set some coriander, carrot and tomatoes on the plate first then add this batter on it, this makes your green idly look very attractive to kids and steam it .


Step 6.


This idly will be very tasty with some nice cucumber chunks in it, moreover it will be change in your breakfast and kids also will like it as it looks more attractive with green idly and tomatoes and carrot.Its healthy too with all veggies in it. Serve it with Peanut or Coconut Chutney.
