- Green chillies
- Curry leaves
- G & G paste
- Lemon Juice ( optional )
- Corn or rice Flour
- chilli powder
- Baking soda
Mix 1 cup besan with 1/4 cup rice flour , salt, 1/2 tsp of ajwain , Chilli powder, 1/4 tsp of soda and make a batter , but not so runny it should be thick batter and keep it a side.
Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp of mustard and jeera ,once they start crackling then add 1 finely shopped onions, few green chillies, and curry leaves and let it fry till onions turn to brown in colour. Then add 1/2 tsp of G & G paste , turmeric and fry for few secs then add salt and boiled and mashed potatoes and mix well . Now your curry is ready and looks like the pic below.
Now make small size balls and keep it a side as in the pic.
Now you have to dip the aloo balls in the thick batter and need to deep fry untill you get nice brown color.
Now your battata vadas are ready to serve as by itself or as vada pav.
