Uthappam ( Indian Pancake )



  1. Dosa Batter
  2. Onions
  3. Green Chillies
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Curry Leaves
  6. Cumin Seeds
  7. Salt
  8. Oil


Step 1.


Finely Chop onions, tomatoes, green chillies, curry leaves and add it to batter,then add cumin seeds & salt.

Add them according to your taste or according to batter.

Step 2.


Heat a non stick pan, apply oil to it and spread batter into thick layer or pancake as you can see in the picture above.

Step 3.


Sprinkle some chilli powder  & chat masala on it ( optional ). Usually this uthappam will be made with leftover Dosa batter or the other day’s batter because batter gets more fermented and turns a bit sour in taste by next day.It tastes more better if we use much fermented batter.

Step 4.

Spread 1 tsp of oil over all uthappam  and fry on both side and serve it with tomato chutney or ginger pickle.

Step 5.

Uthappam is ready to serve.
