Broken Wheat Kichidi



  1. Broken Wheat
  2. Mung Daal
  3. Chilli Powder
  4. Garlic Cloves
  5. Dry red chilli’s
  6. Cloves
  7. Turmeric
  8. Cumin Seeds
  9. Ghee
  10. Oil
  11. Salt


Step 1.


Wash 1/2 cup mung daal, add water to it and microwave it for  5 m so that daal is slightly cooked. We are doing this process because wheat will cook a bit fast than daal, we want both to cook equally.

Step 2.

Heat  1 1/2 tbsp of oil and add 1 tsp of chopped garlic, 1 clove, 2 red chilli,1/2 tsp of turmeric, 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, allow it to crackle, then add 1 cup of wheat to it and roast it until you get slightly change in colour.

Step 3.

At this stage add half cooked mung daal and 1 tsp of chilli powder, salt to taste and give a stir, Now add 3 cups of water and close the cooker and allow it to get 3 whistle.

Step 4.

Once the pressure goes down, its done. Serve it with Ghee, if you are on diet no need of ghee. It goes very well with mango pickle and yogurt. Its a Good protein food. Wheat and daal gets mashed up as you can see in the picture this is what it look’s like, good diet food & yummy as well.
