Rice Pudding (chakkara pongali)

Ingredients

  1. Rice
  2. Sugar (chakkara)
  3. Milk
  4. Cashew nuts (kaju)
  5. Almonds (Badam)
  6. Elaichi Powder
  7. Ghee

Preparation

Step 1.

Wash rice and add 2 cups of water for 1 cup rice and soak it for 20 mins.

Step 2.

Cut nuts into small pieces and fry it in  2 tbsp of ghee until it gets golden brown in colour and keep it a side.

Step 3.

Boil the rice under medium heat until water is absorbed, then add 1/2 cup milk and mix it well, let that cook for some time, now add 1 cup of sugar to rice and mix well until sugar gets melt.

Step 4.

Add elaichi powder and dry fruits along with ghee  to pudding and give a quick mix.

Step 5.

Your Rice pudding is ready. This rice will be thick and lumpy form not in running consistency. To make it running consistency add more milk to it and boil it.
